Nothing here follows you
No advertising pixels, no session recording, no third-party analytics, and no third-party scripts of any kind. Nothing on this site reports your visit to anyone else. We do count page views ourselves, and that is described below; it involves no cookie and nothing that identifies you. This is worth saying first because it makes most of what follows short. - 02
What we hold about you
An account, which is a random identifier in a cookie and nothing else until you sign in. It cannot hold money in that state: credit is only ever added to an account with an email address on it. Your email, once you attach one. Your listings, which are public by design: the address, the sale link, the pitch, the asking price, the category, and the monthly revenue if you state one. A ledger of your top-ups and bids, which we are required to keep for accounting. Your keep-or-drop votes on other people’s listings, one per account per listing: the tally on each row is public, but which way any one account voted is not shown to anyone but us. If you join the free directory, the handle, profile link, category and line you gave it, all of which you submitted specifically to be shown publicly and which go public the moment you submit them. And, only if you switch notifications on, the address your browser’s push service gave us to reach it at. Separately, and not linked to any of the above, a per-day tally of page views described below. That is the lot. - 03
How we count visits
We keep a tally of how many times each page was viewed on each day, and which site the visit came from, as a host name only. That is the whole record: a date, a page, a referring site and a number. There is no visitor identifier, no session, no cookie, no address and no fingerprint, so a row cannot be traced back to a person even by us, with the whole database open. It is counted on our own server and sent to nobody. Known crawlers are left out because they are not people. - 04
Cookies
One. It is called rd_session, it holds a signed account identifier, and it is what keeps your balance attached to you. It is not used to track you across other sites and there is nothing else in it. Your light or dark preference, and whether you have installed the app, are kept in your browser's own storage and never sent to us. - 05
Addresses and logs
Your IP address is used to rate limit sign-in emails, pitch drafting and click counting, and appears in ordinary server logs. It is not stored against your listings and not used to profile you. - 06
Who else sees it
Only the services needed to run the board. Stripe processes payments and receives what a payment needs, including the email you give at checkout; we never receive your card number. Neon stores the database. Vercel hosts the site and serves it. Resend delivers sign-in links and receipts. Anthropic receives the domain name, and only the domain name, when you ask for a drafted pitch. None of them are given your data for their own purposes, and we do not sell it to anyone. - 07
What leaves the site when a listing is shown
To show a name's icon, our server fetches that domain's own favicon. The request comes from us, not from your browser, so listing a domain does not expose visitors to it. The rank badge you can embed is served by us as an image; the site you paste it on will see requests for it in the ordinary way. - 08
Notifications
If you install the app and turn notifications on, your browser issues an address at its own push service — Google’s, Apple’s or Mozilla’s, depending on the browser — and we store it against your account so we can tell you when one of your listings loses a place. The message itself is encrypted to keys only your browser holds, so the service carrying it cannot read it. Nothing else is ever sent that way: no marketing, no round summaries, no reminders. Turning the switch off deletes the address, and so does uninstalling the app. - 09
Email
Your address is used for sign-in links and payment receipts. There is no marketing list, and we will not add you to one. If a round-ending notice is ever added, it will be about listings you paid for and you will be able to turn it off. - 10
How long it is kept
Listings and round standings are kept indefinitely, because the archive is part of what a listing buys. Sign-in tokens are deleted or expire within fifteen minutes. Payment records are kept as long as accounting rules require. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your email and anonymise the account behind your listings. - 11
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. If you are in the UK or EU, these are rights you have under the GDPR; we will honour them wherever you are. - 12
Children
This site is for adults selling domain names. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly hold data about children.
To ask for your data, or to have it deleted, write to support@rankdomains.net. The terms cover what you are buying and how refunds work.
